THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY FRIEND

I AM REMINICING AGAIN

Do you see the date on this, 1957 oh what a time it was, we were young and the world was ours, I was a child at this time, and thought everything was created just for me. *Giggles* Oh what a rude awakening I had when I grew up. like Paul said, When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.  For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. WOW how I know this is true now. Sure different than when I was a child. But  I do love reminicing about the old times, there were so many good things, just a much simplier life than now.
A new car then was 17,00 compared to 27,000 today, big big difference Bread was 22 cents a loaf, compared to 1.29 cents a loaf, yep big change in our life through the years. I love looking at the old ads, my husband found a stack of old News Papers from 1957 I scanned some of this stuff from them.

Look at these Prices, WOW unreal, now something is real wrong when we pay the prices we pay today. Well on that note I will say have a lovely Marvellous Monday, and just think on all the wonderful things that used to be, puts you in a really quiet and sweet mood. Be blessed and be a blessing. One thing that never changes is God, he is the same today, yesterday, and forever, what he says if for ever, not just a day or a year, but everlasting, just like him.
Hugs, Barbara

Hi Barbara, I remember when I
was a child my dad would give
me a dime and I could walk to
the drug store (alone) and get
a paper bag filled with candy
for that price! Now a kid can't
even buy one piece of candy out
of a machine for less than a
quarter, and most times half a
dollar. Times have certainly
changed.

Yes indeed Sandy I can remember those days for sure, take a dime and fill up a brown sack with lots of candy, I used to love those little pieces call squirrels, so yummy. Yes they were the days my friend. Hugs

Oh how wonderful to take a walk down memory lane! I was born in 1954 and have so many precious memories for those days! We would walk to the store over a mile away with very little money and come home with a little brown bag full of candy! Have a blessed day and thanks for triggering this memory!

I love seeing things from past decades like this! The 50's seem like they would have been such a neat time. Thanks for sharing! :)

Groceries certainly are way too high. I don't know where you get bread for 1.29! Mine is 2.50+. It is fun to remember. I have a 70th birthday party reunion coming up! Blessings ~

Yes I was in high school in 1957.... and when I went to work my pay was about equivalent to $15 per week, and I finished up on nearly $1,000 gross per week, and probably could buy about the same.
Lovely to read your posts.
