Terrific Thankful Thursday

It is an amazing day in Southern Georgia, a wonderful beautiful day, and I have so much to be thankful for.
This is the entrance to our land, in the header photo. I am so thankful that God give us the wisdom to buy this place many years ago, instead of going in deep debt to get a house in the city, and big and fancy, for we are now retired, and if we owed for our home I am not sure how we would make ends meet, they just wave at each other now. But God give insight to us, nothing else I can contribute it too, we are not real smart folks, or have any crystal ball to look into the future, so it definitely had to be God's leading.
It is funny how people change, and they have different out look on things as they age, when we are young we think the world is ours, just for the taking, and so many times we want so many things that are out of our reach, so we will go in debt to get them. BIG mistake, we were there one time in our young life, we were  over our heads in bills, had 5 small children running around, needing shoes, and food and always had to pay the rent, we made some really unwise decisions then too, but as we looked more to the lord, and asked for his guidance, he give us great wisdom that no book or any school could ever teach. The fact to live within our means, to be content with what we have, and not to always be looking for bigger and better.
So I think today I am most thankful that God saved me and my dear husband, and then taught us to how live within our means, and how to be content with the things he gives. Like the apostle Paul said in:

Philippians 4:11 "Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content."
Philippians 4:12 "I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need."

This is definitely a lesson well learned, and if you have learned it, then thank God and have a very Thankful Thursday, God bless you and Keep you in his care.

Lots of Hugs, Barbara

Yes! What a wonderful post. This is one that all young people (and some not so young) need to read.
My husband and I have cut so many corners in our life that we only have 'round rooms' (hee hee). People have made fun of us for scrimping and not spending like most, but we've always lived happily within our means. And God has never let us down; He's always supplied our needs and the wisdom by which to live.

Thank you Barbara for posting this my heart NEEDED to read it.

BTW, we are blessed with the 4" of wet snow and it's still snowing. Funny when I was younger I would have moaned about this but now I realize just what a blessing it is; time released moisture*wink* and we so dearly needed it!
Blessings,
Kelle

Well, Dear friend you sure know how to share some great messages. I think if we all truly look at things in our lives, we can see many places were God has lead us in the right direction. He does that for many people, but unfortunately for some they do not pay attention.
I'm more that a little thankful that my husband and I listened to God when He told us to move where we did. I don't know how I could survive with out the church family I have, since he went home to be with the Lord. But best of all He lead you to me. I Thank Him daily for that true Blessing. Love Ya, HUGS

That was a good and much needed post. I, too, am glad the Lord helped us to be debt free when retirement age came. He has been far better to us than we could even imagine. We have far more than we need.

A great post that all our children should read and learn from. My husband never allowed us to go into much debt even when we were young. It seems today is different though. I see young people living way above their means. Doylene

Learning to be content with what you have is not all that easy but it is definitely the way to go. My needs and most of my wants have always been taken care of, in some mysterious ways too.

I am so glad that God led me over to see you this morning. I saw you comment on my post about the jasmine and he used that to lead me over here. I'm so happy that you and your husband have your lovely land and home. I know what you mean, because I love the country so much. I can't imagine not living in the country.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with all of us. You are a lot wiser than you know. :)

I do so agree with you. God gave us the funds at just the right time to place our family not only in the countryside, but near the church He intended for us to attend. He provided the leadership for us to grow in Christian love and fellowship, for which I remain thankful for myself and my family. Three adult family members were baptized in this church. Perhaps they would have come to Him elsewhere, but that question would never be answered. I am so grateful for all His gifts.
