The Heart of the Human Being

Proverbs 4:23
Keep they heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Introduction:
The word "HEART" can be defined (figuratively)
A. ...the feelings
B. ...the will
C. ...the intellect
D. ...the very center of something
Everything has a heart in the figurative sense and I have no intention of going into the physical heart, I will leave that for the doctors.
While we will never be specialist in the field of "heart disease" we must study the Scriptures to know what God wants us to know about spiritual side of the "heart"
The bible uses the word in excess of 812 times. That fact alone shows the interest God has in spiritual matters of our heart.

I. The Thoughts of the The Heart Determine The Character of an individual.
A fleeting thought is not a thought in the heart but one's heart can get "set" on subjects that are detrimental to him because those things become his character. Here is the illustration Solomon presented"
     (Proverbs 23:7)

II. The attitude of the Heart Determines the Words
of Thy Mouth.
To try to be anything other than what you are is hypocrisy. By nature we are sinners. We must admit to that fact. Therefore, we must claim the righteousness of Jesus Christ for our own righteousness lest we should none to claim.
     (Luke 6:45)
The conversion of our hearts will transform the words of our mouths.
     (Matthew 6:19-21)

IV. The condition of the Heart Determines the
Destiny of the Soul.
     (Romans 10:10)
Faith in Jesus is the doorway to salvation and to Heaven as well.

Concluding Thoughts:
A.  The Natural Heart Needs To Be "Pricked"
By The Gospel.
     (Acts 2:36:37)
B.   The Natural Heart Needs To Repent Of His Sins.
     (Acts 2:38-39)
C.   The Natural Heart Needs To Become Receptive
To The Word of God.
     (Acts 2:41)
D.   The Hearts That Repents Are The Ones That Are
Saved!
      (Acts 2:47)
Has Your heart changed?
Are you able to offer a testimony concerning your salvation?
Do you know in your heart that you are truly saved?

Hi Barbara, YES--my heart changed when God brought George into my life... I had never experienced 'that' kind of love before --even though I had been married before... This love between us is rooted with God in the center of both of our lives... It's amazing and awesome.. Thanks be to God.
Hugs,
Betsy
