Monday Bible Study on Prayer

My prayer is we all grow closer to the lord through this Bible Study.
I did this this study with my ladies at church, and it was a great joy, and we seen growth in the area of prayer. So you may wonder at times what I am talking about, well it was did in a group, so just take what you can and glean from that.


I just want to take this time before we start our study, to welcome each of you, I am so excited about this study, it is much needed, we all lack in our prayer department, so I am hoping we all will grow through this study.

Well here I am a pastors wife doing a bible study, you say sounds about right, easy enough, not as easy as you would think. It is an effort to get everyone involved and talking, this study will only go as well as you make it go, it is up to all of us as a group to take these principles God has given me and apply them to our lives. May each of us be blessed in this effort to serve our Saviour. May we go to the Lord in prayer first, instead of as a last result, and I do pray that these lesson will show us exactly how to do that. Prayer Study, Part One

Now may we lift up this study and each other to the Lord in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of Salvation, and for the chance to tell others of your love and your divine nature. Lord be with each and every ladies here and touch our hearts and souls and draw us closer to you, may this entire study glorify you. and lift up the name of Jesus. In the blessed name of Jesus amen. And all God’s people said Amen!!

The Most Reluctant Pray-ers in the bible
Lesson Part one

Have you ever felt reluctant to do something you knew would bring you satisfaction or even downright joy? It seems silly at first glance, but we could be talking here about eating a pear rather than a candy bar. Or sitting on the porch swing rather than scrubbing the kitchen floor. Or praying rather than wrestling with a gorilla of a problem by ourselves. What makes us slow to do what we know we really want to do?

In the book of Jonah, we encounter a passel of reluctant pray-ers. These people would rather suffer than pray! They’re as silly as …well, as we are. But once they turned their hearts to God, God did some heart-turning of His own. Now sisters I am here to tell you, I want to have the ear of God turned towards me, How about you?

In this lesson you’ll have a chance to think about what causes you to be a reluctant pray-er and what can happen when you overcome that reticence. Like the people in Jonah’s time, you’ll discover God is merciful, loving, and discerner of hearts who is eager to hear from you.

A Moment of Quiet Reflection

1. Find your way to a comfortable place and relax, a place sheltered from noise of your world. Spend several minutes considering what makes you reluctant to pray. What in your heart keeps you from pray-ing? What in your present circumstances? What in our past experiences? Pause, think, ponder in your hearts condition. Examine your personal relationship with Christ. You may print this out and fill in some spaces below, to stimulate your personal examination.

2. Ask God to bring healing to past wounds, to clean the rooms of your heart in preparation for regular prayer, and to remind you to pray when you become too frenzied to remember, to not make it the last thing you do, but the very first, I have heard people say, when all else fails pray, shame on us, it should be our first response, not our last.

You know we all find time to do the things we enjoy doing, why is it we put off praying as a last resort? Ever thought of that? We need to be as disciplined in prayer as in every other walk of our Christian life. We need to have a prayer Journal, or prayer list of some sort, because when we start to pray our minds wander, I will begin Our Dear Father, and end up wondering if my husbands suit is ready at the cleaners, we need to train our minds, to keep in tune with the Lord God Almighty, maybe none of you have this problem, but I do, and I need help, so please help me, and pray for me, and pray for each other daily, God said he would keep them in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee. Well if we can keep on tract with everything else in our lives; then let us also be on tract with our prayer life, that we will be more in tune with the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Now look below and see the rest of our lesson on prayer..

Knowing God’s heart

The book of Jonah may be the ‘prayingest” book in the Bible. It contains more prayers in its few pages than most of the larger books do in their man. But the pray-ers here are not eager. Ladies, the book starts out with the Lord communicating with Jonah. But Jonah is more than reluctant to respond-he is ready to disobey. How much is that like us? Plugging his ears, he dons his sandals and boards a ship destined for a distant land, far from Nineveh, the city the Lord commanded Jonah to preach repentance to.

So the Lord sends a violent storm after the ship with Jonah aboard sets sail. The first prayer we encounter is the sailors’. Once they had determined Jonah’s disobedience had cause the storm that threatened their lives, they were reluctant to follow Jonah’s advice to pitch him overboard and save themselves.

(Remember this study was prepared with a King James Bible. )

1. Take a minute to read Jonah 1:4-13 . What are five ways the sailors displayed their reluctance to turn to God?

2. Which of their solutions are ones you’ve tried in a crisis? Share one personal example with the group.

3. Read verses 14-16. What actions and heart responses finally brought an end to the storm?

4. Why do you think none of the sailors’ previous actions had helped the situation.

5. Jonah, the next reluctant pray-er, finally speaks to God from a rather uncomfortable prayer chamber. Read Jonah 1:17-2:10 What emotions do you think Jonah felt as he prayed?

6. What does the prayer tell you about Jonah’s relationship with God?

7. What price does he recognize he paid for his reluctance to respond?

8. Jonah obeys God, travels to Nineveh, and proclaims repentance. This was no small task since Nineveh was so large it took three days to walk across it. And, as Jonah knew before he went there, the citizens of Nineveh certainly did not live prayer oriented lives. When they got up that morning, they had no idea prayer would play a central role, yet read about their prayer in Jonah 3:4-10. Why do you think they responded as they did?

9. Think of a situation in your life, now or in the past that felt or feels disastrous. What does the Ninevites’ reaction suggest about how you could have handled or could handle your situation better?

10. Read Jonah’s next prayer in Jonah 4:1-4 Now this is a prayer Jonah should have been reluctant to pray! (Can’t this guy get it right?!) What has he forgotten about himself?

11. What can we learn and apply to our lives from God’s reply to Jonah?

12. What do we learn about reluctance and the heart, as we look at all these prayers? Please feel free to answer all these question, they are for you and your responses, join in here.. all comments are invited.

Just for Fun

During the week ahead, treat yourself to something (harmless!) you’ve been reluctant to indulge in---take a few extra minutes to sleep in the morning, give a smile to someone who doesn’t seem to have one, buy that home decorating magazine you’ve been eyeing. Please tell us what you indulged in, and what happened as a result.

Praying Together

Share something you’ve been reluctant to pray about. It could be something so small you didn’t think it worth mentioning, or something you have been avoiding discussing with GOD. If you don’t feel comfortable discussing what you need to pray about, perhaps you can tell the group why you’ve been reluctant. Pray for one another that in the upcoming week you’ll over come your reluctance.

Now Making It Real in Your Own Life

1. Begin each day this week by praying, “Lord help me to be quick to pray today and slow to resist you.”

2. Try to find time (even a few minutes) at the end of each day to examine the times you were reluctant to pray. Ask yourself how you can overcome that reluctance tomorrow. Write down any thoughts you have.

My closing prayer through this lesson one is awareness in our own prayer life, and what kind of prayer life do we have, if you look close at your life, you will see it is as an example of how your prayer life is, praying every day sets the mood for your day, remember this, if you do not remember anything else, remember to pray openly and fervently to our Father above, this is our close relationship with our heavenly father, if your prayer life is lacking, then you are lacking in your walk with the Father. My prayer is Father Help us Lord, to turn toward you, and in our turning find that you have been turned toward us all along, and that if we are out of step with you Lord that may we see it is us that missed the step not thee, may you bless every lady reading these verses. Amen.

Bruising the Devil

"And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen." (Romans 16:20)

This is an intriguing promise, suggesting that believers can somehow inflict bruises on the devil, who is perpetually seeking to "devour" them (1 Peter 5:8). This promise is a clear allusion to the primeval assurance of Genesis 3:15, when God promised that the unique "seed" of "the woman" would eventually "bruise" (actually "crush") the head of the old serpent, the devil. This prophecy will finally be fulfilled in Christ's ultimate victory, when Satan first will be bound for a thousand years in the bottomless pit and then confined forever in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:2, 10).

In the meantime believers, who also in a sense are the woman's spiritual "seed" (Revelation 12:17), can repeatedly achieve local and temporary victories over Satan and his wiles by resisting him "stedfast in the faith" (1 Peter 5:9). If we resist him as Jesus did, with relevant Scripture, then God promises that he will "flee from you" (James 4:7). Such local victories can be obtained over these dangerous teachers whom Satan is using (note Romans 16:17-19, just preceding today's text) "shortly" in this manner, but we need to be continually alert against his recurrent attacks. The ultimate victory over Satan, of course, will be won only by the Lord Jesus when He returns, and we must "be sober, be vigilant" (1 Peter 5:8) until that time.

Whether we are aware of it or not, we must perpetually "wrestle . . . against the rulers of the darkness of this world" (Ephesians 6:12), who will be casting "fiery darts" (v. 16) against each believer. Finally, with the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God (v. 17), we can even by God's grace inflict spiritual wounds on Satan himself!  HMM

Tasty Thursday

Fried Rice With Peas and Chicken

================================
Ingredients

3 tablespoons peanut oil or neutral oil, like corn or canola
1 medium onion, roughly chopped
1 bell pepper, stemmed, cored and roughly chopped
1 1/2 cups chopped boneless chicken
1 cup peas (defrost if frozen)
1 tablespoon minced garlic, or to taste
1 tablespoon minced ginger, or to taste
3 to 4 cups cooked rice, cooled
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
Salt and ground black pepper to taste
1/4 cup minced scallion or cilantro.

Directions

1. Put 1 tablespoon oil in a wok or a large skillet, preferably
nonstick, and turn heat to high. A minute later, add onion and
pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and
beginning to brown, 5 to 10 minutes. With slotted spoon, remove
to a bowl.
2. Add chicken to skillet and cook over high heat, stirring
infrequently, until nicely browned, 5 to 10 minutes. Add to bowl
with vegetables. Drain peas if necessary and add them to skillet;
cook, shaking pan, for about a minute, or until hot. Add them to
bowl.
3. Put remaining oil in skillet, followed by garlic and ginger. About
15 seconds later, add rice, a bit at a time, breaking up clumps
with your fingers and tossing it with oil. When all rice is added,
make a well in the center and break eggs into it; scramble them a
bit, then incorporate into rice.
4. Return chicken and vegetables to skillet and stir to integrate.
Add water and cook, stirring, for about a minute. Add soy
sauce and sesame oil, then taste and add salt and pepper if
necessary. Turn off heat, stir in scallion or cilantro, and serve.

You might want to make these wonderful biscuits to go with this
meal.

Barbara's Best Biscuits

=========================
2 cups flour
1 tsp sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
2/3 cup milk

Directions

Sift together first 4 ingredients, cut in shortening, Beat egg and milk together and add to dry mixture. Dough will be moist. On a floured surface knead dough until smooth. Roll out to 3/4-inch thickness, cut with biscuit cutter.

Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 450 for
10-12 minutes.

Now I do not roll my dough out, I push it down with my hands and leave it kinda thick, your biscuits will be 2 inches high and melt in your mouth. up to you how you like them we like them high with butter and honey. Hugs and enjoy. Perfect every time.

The Scripture I found is Ps 107:29  "He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still."  He calms the sea, he calms the storms he calms me.

Now after the rain and storm you see the beauty it has left, everything is so very
green now, and simply gorgeous. The road out front of our house, and the

Counting Your Blessings Tuesday

I am linking up with Julie at More of Him, for this Count Our Blessings.

I have so many blessings it is hard to start to thank God whom all blessings come from, but I sure will do my best.
1. I thank God for my resurrected Saviour who hung on the cross to pay for the sin debt that I owed, and was able to save my soul from a Devil's hell.

2. I am so thankful for a loving husband who takes care of me, and has for almost 51 years.

3. I am thankful for a wonderful family who loves me unconditionally, and thinks I
am pretty special.

4. I am also thankful for all the dear women I have met in the blogging world, that I
have learned to respect and love.

5. I have 11 grandchildren I love dearly, that are all healthy, and 8 great grand children that are all healthy also. That is such a blessing to have such a big family, after growing up as an only child, this big family is indeed a blessing to me.

6. I am thankful for the Bible, that I live in a Country that I can read it daily or when ever I feel the need, I thank God for writing his word down so I can apply it to my heart.

7. I am blessed by living in a free Country, that we are still able to choose what church we attend, read our bible, and to vote on election day, that is an honor and one I do not take lightly.

8. I am totally blessed by where I live, it is remote, and never any problems here as in the cities close by. I have forgotten to lock my door at night, or left the key in the door, and never had one problem in 15 years of living here.

9. I am thankful for the talents God has given me, of singing his praises, and teaching his word to others.

10. I am blessed to be able to have a computer, and to reach out all over the world to many who may never hear the gospel of Jesus Christ, it is a blessing to reach others for Christ.

You know I could go on, and on, my blessings never end, daily I have something new that blesses my heart, but I will quit now for this blessing statement, and say have a very blessed Tuesday, and do be a blessing where ever you may go. Bye Bye For now.

Marvellous Monday

Oh it is a marvellous Monday here in sunny and warm Georgia, just a glorious day.


I went to bed about 9:45 last night, and slept until 7:50 this morning, think I got enough sleep, giggles, I feel great and so refreshed too, I was plum wore out when we got home last night, but is was such a wonderful day.

Brother Chuck preached on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and just what that meant for us. It was a fabulous a great message. He was anointed yesterday in deed, and it was such a blessing. I was able to sing He is Alive, and it brought tears to many, and so many just loved it, as I was told after ward, it was a good day where we both were able to use our God given talents for the lord, and what better day to be in his house doing his will and worshipping him than on the day our lord arose. WOW I am still wound up.

They so graciously took us out for lunch at the Golden Coral, (our choice) had a delicious lunch and went to my sons after we ate for the after noon, his wife put a spread on too, lol but we were stuffed and could not eat, I did eat a little piece of ham before returning to church in the after noon.

Their evening Sunday service starts at 5:00 instead of 6 so that was nice, and we were able to get back home before dark even, that was a joy, and different than most times.

All in all we had a wonderful day, and I praise God for still using us, even in our old age, my dh preached out of Psalms last night and used that verse I was young and now I am old, it was very unique and good.

It sure pictures us, we were young and God used us then, but now we are old, and he is still using us, he is no respecter of persons, he can use any one, and I am so very happy that he has chosen to use us. Thank you Father for your goodness and all the wonderful blessings you bestow upon us. I love my lord, and I will serve you until the day I die, amen...

Tribute To My Lord Jesus Christ

He is not here For he has risen, as he said....

 
 
 
 
 
 
This is no doubt the most important day in a Christian's year. If Jesus would not of died on that old rugged cross, been buried, and rose again on the 3 day, what hope would be have. We would still be lost and on our way to a hell created for Satan.


Some worship other gods beside the one a true living God, and they are dead, how can a dead man help anyone, but Jesus is alive and sitting on the right hand of the Father making intercession for me, and for you if you are a saved person.

Easter is only mentioned once in the Bible, so I prefer to call the Sunday my Lord was resurrected; Resurrection Sunday, amen it is fitting. It is not about Easter bunnies and little baby chicks, or even fancy new dresses and Easter bonnets, that is all mere things of this world.

Many lost people come to our churches on Easter Sunday, and never enter one at any other time. I pray that some will be saved, and others get their heart right with God. May our pastors preach with clarity and boldness the true word of our living God.

~Resurrection Sunday, From God's own Word~ The scripture I am using is all in the Kings James Version of the Bible, Using John 20:1-31

1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.

4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.

5 And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.

6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,

7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.

27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Many of us have a hard time like Thomas did in trusting the Lord, and in believing all he has said, but being saved for over 30 years now, I have come to the point where I know I can trust in the Lord, and not to my own understanding,  amen .

May you have a very blessed Easter, as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, would it not be a wonderful time to tell other about what he has did for you,. invite some one to church this Sunday, if you do they just may come, and may be saved. What a wonderful day it will be when my Jesus I shall see, when I look into his face the one who saved by his grace.

If The Altar Could Talk, What Would it Say

The tales this old church must have, so

many come together for services, and

to worship the lord, it is sad it has closed

its doors and is all but falling down.

The old pump outside, where they got their

water from. What do you think happened

here to this old church, why is it no longer

holding services, and filled with people.

I see this email today, and I am thinking

this could be the reason so many churches

fold up, and are never heard of again, read

it carefully, take it to heart, and remember

there is always another place to park, another

place to sit, another place to really please

YOU TOOK MY PARKING SPACE AT CHURCH

This should wake us up, change our ways, and touch our heart

One day, a man went to visit a church, He got there early, parked his car and got out. Another car pulled up near the driver got out and said, " I always park there! You took my place!"

The visitor went inside for Sunday School, found an empty seat and sat down. A young lady from the church approached him and stated, "That's my seat! You took my place!" The visitor was somewhat distressed by this rude welcome, but said nothing.

After Sunday School, the visitor went into the sanctuary and sat down. Another member walked up to him and said, " That's where I always sit! You took my place!" The visitor was even more troubled by this treatment, but still he said nothing.

Later as the congregation was praying for Christ to dwell among them, the visitor stood up, and his appearance began to change. Horrible scars became visible on his hands and on his sandaled feet. Someone from the congregation noticed him and called out, "What happened to you?" The visitor replied, as his hat became a crown of thorns, and a tear fell from his eye, "I took your place."

I have so much to be thankful for, I do not even know where to start, how about with the state I live in, this is a photo of one of the streets in Folkston, Georgia, it
is just beautiful. We have such wonderful weather here,
it is in the mid 80's today, I see some others still have snow, and I am reassured of the blessings that I have here where I live.
I am in good health, most part, I have a wonderful and loving Godly husband, and we go to a wonderful church, that is preaching the whole counsel of God, not leaving anything out, or adding anything to the scriptures.
I have a great family in Florida, and Georgia, and all are healthy, for the most part.
We have 4 living generations that seem to grow each month, for that I am thankful.
God just keeps adding to our blessings, he keeps us looking to him, he keeps us in touch with him daily through our reading his word, and praying to him, Father thank
you for loving me, and for all the blessings you have given.
This photo below is the sun going down, what we see from our front porch where we live, I have several photos at different times of it setting, but love this one.

As the sun sets in Georgia, I think of how good God has been to me, and much that I take for granted all the blessings that he bestows upon me. I love the lord
and I love to proclaim his goodness where ever I am,
and wherever I go.
