ANYONE REMEMBER THEM ?? The History of 'APRONS' !!
I don't think our kids know, what an apron is. The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath, because she only had only a few,it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and they used less material, but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven. It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears. From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven. When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids. And when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms.. Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron. From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables.. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls. In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.. When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds. When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner. It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes. REMEMBER: Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool. Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw. They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron. * I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron !!!! *
So get out your machine And make yourself one, McCall's still sells patterns for them.

A Little Word For Saturday

Isaiah 40:11 "He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young." Isn't this the most perfect picture, I have a mental image that really excites me, my precious lord leading me, and taking me to higher places, drawing me close to his bosom. Each day is a new step in his grace, each day is another opportunity to grow a little more, to learn more of his precious words, and to get closer to our Shepherd, we all need to be up close and personal with our lord, we are gonna feel so out of place when the rapture comes, if we are not close to him here on earth. I feel this is a training ground for us to learn how to be Godly like he is, and how to spend our days wisely like he does, and how to get used to how heaven will be, we may not have the streets of gold, and walls of jasper, or gates of pearl, but we have a glimpse of how our life will be in heaven just being in his word, and knowing more about our dear Saviour daily. It is a constant walk, and constant learning process, lets compare it to our marriage here to our husbands, we loved them when we married them, but it took time to really get to know him, and to love him like we do today, we learned the ins and outs of how he is, how the inner person really is, how he felt, what made him tick so to speak, and that is how we need to learn about our Jesus, we need to spend time with him, we need to ask him questions, we need his touch on us daily, then when he gets ready to bring us home, it will not be such a difference in our way of life, we will be seen as he sees then, and we will be made perfect in his image, so lets get busy right today, and make up our minds we are going to be ready to meet our Jesus, when he comes in the sky for us. Have a blessed day, and know it may be today he comes for us, be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not the son of man cometh.

Happy Friday, The Gate Way To Our Weekend

Photobucket I had a procedure yesterday on my knee, so I am off my feet for 48 hours, and trying to make good use of this time, in creating something for another board I have, I am not able to do much so working on the computer is good, even though my leg hurts after sitting a few minutes, I get up walk a bit, rest my leg, then back to the board again. I am looking for ward to this weekend, and Church on Sunday, tomorrow will be another lazy day for me, but Sunday I will be able to be back to full use of my legs, and will enjoy being with our dear church family. God's grace is so full, and his love so merciful. "And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." 1 John 4:16 We can be sure that God loves us. He wants us to live in and be blessed by his love. That love is more than just the grace that reaches us when we are saved. God's love extends through us. His love is redemptive in our loving behavior to others. His presence is seen in our loving attitudes and deeds. God wants his love to be shared by us to others. In this way, his love blesses us when we receive it and also when we share it! We need to rely on God's love, I just cannot imagine my life without God and his love in it. I would be completely lost, literally and for all eternity. However Praise God I am confident about my home in heaven, and full of joy knowing I will be in his presence the day of his return, oh what love he had for me. May we take a moment to praise him and thank him for all he did that day on Calvary for you and for I. ♥ A small house will hold as much happiness as a big one.♥

Thursday's Supper

My Homemade Spaghetti Sauce
Sauce 1 pound of Ground Chuck 1 small Valdilla onion 6 fresh mushrooms chopped up 1 12 oz can of Tomato Sauce 1/2 can of diced tomatoes 1 teaspoon chopped Garlic 1 teaspoon of Italian spices pinch of salt and pepper Directions Brown ground chuck, onion, mushrooms, there is no fat left so no need to drain, add 1 can of tomato sauce, 1/2 can of diced tomatoes, add garlic, Italian spices and salt and pepper to taste. 1/4 box of 16 oz Ronzoni Spaghetti, I like it because it has substance, not just a flimsy noodle, lol, cook until it becomes sticky, do not over cook spaghetti, it only takes about 8 minutes if that to cook, then drain well, do not rinse, your sauce will not stick good if you rinse it. we like ours mixed together, but you can serve your spaghetti and top it with the sauce. I add a a sprinkle of either Parmesan or Mozzarella cheese.

GOOD GIFTS FROM ON HIGH I was reading my bible and came across this verse, and I remembered the importance of it. Matthew 7:11 "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" My husband started out in the Bus ministry, driving the church bus. He went with a bus Captain at this time, and they were out on a Saturday checking on the regulars that came to church on the bus. Well, Chuck decided he would run ahead and visit all those houses that the other man did not get to. After two hours of steady going, he still had not gotten one single child to come on the bus! He stopped, sopping wet -- he had on a old wool suit, the only one he had then, and of course his cowboy boots, both were full of water and saturated. He was tired out, it was a day in August in wonderful, sunny Florida! He made his way back to the car and sat there for a few minutes, just thinking of all he had done and to no avail.... Then he started praying, and the Lord showed him what was missing in this picture. The Lord gave him the above verse (Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?), and Chuck realized he was going on his own, without the Holy Spirit leading him! So after he rested and prayed and recouped, he went back out and started knocking again on some doors. Well, the first one he got to was a young mother with two children. They were new in the area and were looking for a church, so she agreed to let her children go on the bus the next day. He was just elated over this, and it was the first time he really used the Power of the Holy Spirit, so a huge lesson was also learned. Well that is not the end of this story! The next day Sunday, the two children came on the bus, and Chuck always got out of church earlier to wait for the children to come out. This day the little girl that rode the bus (Lori) came running toward the bus crying, and Chuck thought someone had hurt her. Hhe ran out and picked her up and asked, "What is wrong, Lori?" She said through a quivering voice and tear-streaked face, "Oh, Brother Chuck, I asked Jesus to come into my heart, and He did, and I am going to heaven when I die now to be with my Jesus." Well needless to say my dear husband has claimed this verse and used it in his every day life from then on. Lori did get saved, and baptised, and her whole family started coming to church and was saved! Oh Praise God for that precious Holy Spirit that leads and fills our heart with the Word of God. So the whole point of this is no matter what you are doing, do it in the power of God. We are not capable of doing anything for Him on our own, that is why He sent the Comforter in Acts to be with us, and that Comforter is the holy Spirit of Almighty God. Use it for His glory, be filled with the Holy Spirit and you will be able to achieve things you never dreamed you could do! I pray this story has made you think how important leaning on and trusting in the Lord is, and that you will take these truths and live with them, do all for His glory.

Wednesday's Wonderful Words of Life “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:1-3 The first time I really used this verse in my life was way back in 1978, I was getting ready to have a major surgery, and was reading my Bible, Jesus jumped out of the pages with this verse. I had been really concerned about this upcoming ordeal, and needed comfort and encouragement, my Lord and Saviour met that need that day, and every one I have had since then. Jesus is not only Saviour, he is our roots, he is our rock, he keeps us grounded in God's holy word, he keeps our feet from falling, and he has prepared a place in heaven just for us. We all know Jesus cannot lie, he is without sin, he is the only perfect one ;and he told us he would prepare a place for us, and if he goes to all of that trouble to make a special home and he said mansion, in heaven then we certainly can be sure he will come again for us, he will take us to be in that wonderful place called heaven and to live with him forever and ever. I know my mansion will be lit with his illumination, and decorated with his many jewel and beautiful purples, and brilliant pearls, we can never be sure what our economy will do here on earth, it is run by man, and man is certainly self destructive, it seems every day the financial parts of our lives get worse, but with God that is not so, when we put our trust in him, we do see the light at the end of the tunnel, we can face tomorrow because Jesus gives us that assurance of his grace, his love, and his hand of protection. As I write this out, he touches my heart, ever so much with this special verse today, Let Not YOUR be heart be troubled.. Look to him for all your answers, look to him for your peace in a troubled time, God bless you this day, and may God bless America.

Happy Teriffic Tuesday

The Alaska Chronicles - Day and Day

My oldest son and I arrived in Anchorage, Alaska at 5 pm.

It was sunny and bright. Each day we went to bed around 10 pm.

It was still bright.

I usually awoke around 5am. It was bright at 5 am.

I never saw darkness.

Alaska is one of the places that can have extremely long daylight hours.

It can also have extremely long hours of darkness.

It reminded me of life.

There are some seasons when everything is bright.

It looks good, it feels good and things just seem to work.

Sometimes such seasons extend for years.

And then... the season changes.

We then wonder:

When will I see the light?

When will it end?

When will I get a break?

Why aren't my prayers answered?

Where is God?

Sometimes you've got to understand where you are and which season you are in.

Sometimes you have to understand that darkness endures for a season.

It's a part of the necessary cycle.

But remember no matter how long the darkness endures,

the son will come again.

While the earth remaineth,

seed time and harvest,

and cold andheat,

and summer and winter,

and day and night shall not cease.

(Gen 8:22 KJV)

You've got to know the season.

You got to know the Son

Complete View of snake, Chuck, and Goldie My dear husband came in the house with this critter, now this is what I call a snake, and out of my back yard too, he has swallowed a Squirrel and the tail is still hanging out of his mouth, just amazing, what a day in the Country will bring.

God Bless Our Military, Past, Present, and Future (CLICK HERE)

"HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY"
May we all take a few minutes to day to pay honor to all those brave men and women who lay down their lives for us on a daily basis, pray earnestly and fervently for these folks, and pray Almighty God put a hedge about them, and keep them safe and out of harms way.
We live in a free Country, and our military keep it a free place to live, but the cost was very high, it was paid for with their lives, so may we never as a Nation turn our back on our Military, God help us if we do, may we never get so cold and indifferent that we do not take at least a minute a day to pray for these men and women who so selflessly give for us, as you watch this video that is posted in the link, make it point to pray for each of them, pray for America, and pray that we will turn back to God, folks it will take exactly what God said in
2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land". If we are ever going to stand for God now is the time, and remember "For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation".
2 Corinthians 6:2.
Have a wonderful Holiday, and be a blessing to some today. Remember to have complete Joy it takes==
