911 NEVER FORGET

2001:

8 YEARS AGO TODAY.
Hijacked jetliners hit the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon outside Washington. A fourth hijacked plane crashes into a field in Pennsylvania.
Trading on Wall Street is stopped. The Federal Aviation Administration halts all flight operations at the nation's airports for the first time in U.S. history. U.S. military is placed on high alert. President Bush addresses the nation and vows to "find those responsible and bring them to justice."
Hundreds of New York City firemen and policemen sent to rescue WTC workers are lost when the WTC Twin Towers collapse. “Time is passing. Yet, for the United States of America, there will be no forgetting September the 11th. We will remember every rescuer who died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief. We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children. " - President George W. Bush, November 11, 2001
I remember how everyone was looking to God for answers then too, leaning on him for strength, hope and to find some peace in the midst of all this horrific terrorist act. What happened, now people have turned their back on God it seems, and leaves him out of everything, out of the every day life, what will it take to bring America back to her knees, and to the one and only true living God? Just ponder on these things, lets each of us ask our self, how can we get closer to God, how can tell more people about this living Saviour named Jesus? Yes today is the day of salvation, now is the accepted time, we may not have another tomorrow, like Proverbs says, Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. Those who died on September 11th 2001, did not know that day they would come face to face with the Almighty God, do you know? Can you say without a shadow of doubt yes if today I met God face to face, I would feel secure in his presence, and know I was his, bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ. Nothing for us to do, except just accept that gift, and our sins will be under the blood, and God will see them no more. Have a wonderful weekend, and may God bless America.

ENJOY YOUR WONDERFUL LABOR DAY

I pray for you all this labor day, that you will stay safe, and have a wonderful time in the celebrating of our holiday. May we all remember 9/11/01 and praise God for the freedom we have in America to celebrate these holidays the way we choose, and to have the day off work for so many, God bless you and may God continue to Bless our beloved America.
The Historic look at Labor Day Labor Day
Is a United States federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September (September 7 in 2009). The holiday originated in Canada out of labor disputes ("Nine-Hour Movement") first in Hamilton, then in Toronto, Canada in the 1870s, which resulted in a Trade Union Act which legalized and protected union activity in 1872 in Canada.
The parades held in support of the Nine-Hour Movement and the printers' strike led to an annual celebration in Canada. In 1882, American labor leader Peter J. McGuire witnessed one of these labor festivals in Toronto. Inspired from Canadian events in Toronto, he returned to New York and organized the first American "labor day" on September 5 of the same year.
The first Labor Day in the United States was celebrated on September 5, 1882 in New York City.[1] In the aftermath of the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the US military and US Marshals during the 1894 Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland put reconciliation with Labor as a top political priority. Fearing further conflict, legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was rushed through Congress unanimously and signed into law a mere six days after the end of the strike.
[2] Cleveland was also concerned that aligning a US labor holiday with existing international May Day celebrations would stir up negative emotions linked to the Hay-market Affair.
[3] All 50 U.S. states have made Labor Day a state holiday. 1882The form for the celebration of Labor Day was outlined in the first proposal of the holiday: A street parade to exhibit to the public "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations," followed by a festival for the workers and their families. This became the pattern for Labor Day celebrations. Speeches by prominent men and women were introduced later, as more emphasis was placed upon the economic and civil significance of the holiday.
Still later, by a resolution of the American Federation of Labor convention of 1909, the Sunday preceding Labor Day was adopted as Labor Sunday and dedicated to the spiritual and educational aspects of the labor movement.
Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer. The holiday is often regarded as a day of rest and parades. Speeches or political demonstrations are more low-key than May 1 Labour Day celebrations in most countries, although events held by labor organizations often feature political themes and appearances by candidates for office, especially in election years. Forms of celebration include picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays, water sports, and public art events.
Families with school-age children take it as the last chance to travel before the end of summer recess. Similarly, some teenagers and young adults view it as the last weekend for parties before returning to school. However, start dates for schools vary widely, beginning as early as July 24 in urban districts such as Atlanta, Miami, and Los Angeles.
In addition, Labor Day marks the beginning of the NFL and college football seasons. The NCAA usually plays their first games the week before Labor Day, with the NFL traditionally playing their first game the Thursday following Labor Day.

☺ SUPER SATURDAY ☺

You say why is it super, well it is super because we are able to walk, talk, pray, love, smell the wonderful fall air, see the pretty flowers growing, you get the picture here. It is a wonderful day, it is bright and sunny here in Georgia a typical day in September for here. My family is coming today for a cookout, and I am thrilled about that, I pray that we have a wonderful time, and they come back more often, us ole folks get lonely way up here away from friends and family. I thank God for my church but as you know it is a ways away too, a half hour drive for us. And yep it is in Florida too, lol but we are beginning to feel this is right where God would have us for some unknown reason, the thought "You got what you wanted, but lost what you had keeps going through my mind," not sure what God is telling us, but we are stopping to listen closer and try to figure it out. There is no urgent need to move, our home is paid for, and it is a great place to live, quiet, just beautiful, "but" so far from all we love. It has been years since we had any family around, but now in our twilight years it seems more important to us, not sure why, so we will sit, and pray, an think of what God is really gonna do with us. Hope you have a super Saturday in what ever you may find to do. Remember... The Will of God never takes you to where the Grace of God will not protect you. Amen and Amen
PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES
INGREDIENTS
3/4 Cup peanut butter 1/2 Cup shortening (chilled) 1 1/4 Cups firmly packed brown sugar 1 Egg 3 Tbsp. milk 1 Tbsp. vanilla 1 3/4 Cups white all purpose flour 3/4 Tsp. baking soda 3/4 Tsp. salt
DIRECTIONS Preheat Oven to 375 F. Cream peanut butter, shortening, brown sugar, egg, milk and vanilla in a large bowl at medium speed until smooth and creamy. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture above slowly and beat at low speed until mixed thoroughly. Drop from a spoon onto non greased baking sheets. I pushed down with a fork to ensure the crispy texture. Bake at 375 F for 8 minutes until set and lightly brown. These are very similar to the chewy chocolate chip cookies for me as I take them out when they just start to brown as I don’t want them to dry out and become crumby. Cool slightly and set on cooling rack. ENJOY!

HAPPY FALL Y'ALL

AUTUMN IS IN THE AIR
It is very hard to believe fall is here already, I had a birthday yesterday and it made it official it is fall, lol, and now with Labor Day upon us we know it will bring the seasons change quickly.
Fall is one of my favorite times of year, all things are changing, and then they die off, but that is all part of the creation plan, just like accepting Christ, we must die to self to live a successful Christian life, we have to put our flesh to death to live completely for our Saviour, and that is the most wonderful part of living, knowing it is pleasing the lord, and being completely obedient to his will, in stead of our own will. John 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Fall is like that, watching things die off, and knowing in the Spring it will all come back to life again, we may die in the flesh but in the Spirit we will live forever with Christ. I have some very pretty fall decorations I am going to share with you, I love the fall decorations I never have the witches or gobblins and such, but things from the harvest, and the harvest is truly plentyful. Here are some of my favorites;

Date Bars
I think this recipe is from the back of a date box that I cut out nearly 30 years ago. It's a favorite. The bars have a buttery crumb crust and topping and taste as good as any I have tasted from a good bakery. I double this recipe at Christmas-time and use a high-sided jelly roll pan instead of the 9x13-inch pan. Just put one batch of the crumb mixture on the bottom, a doubled recipe of the date filling over this and another batch of the crumb mixture on top.
Date Filling.
Ingredients:
2 c. pre-chopped dates
2/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. water
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. grated lemon rind
2 T. butter
Directions:
Heat and stir above ingredients over low heat until thickened. Cool.
Crust.
Ingredients:
3/8 c. shortening
3/8 c. unsalted butter
1 c. packed brown sugar
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt1
1/2 c. quick oats
Directions:
Using the pastry attachment (or pastry cutter) of a stand mixer, blend above ingredients until crumbly. Pat half of mixture into a 9x13-inch pan. Spread cooled date filling over this and cover with remaining crumb mixture and pat down gently. Bake at 400 degrees for about 25 minutes or until lightly browned around edges. Cool and cut into squares or bars.
Now add your favorite recipes to this list, lets see how many we can get.

WHAT A WONDERFUL SONDAY, PRAISE GOD

We had a wonderful Sunday, what a better lesson than on soul winning, my dh has just started a new class on Soul Winning, and what a soul is worth. This is an area that most churches are lacking in, I praise God for a husband who cares and shares what God has taught him. We had a little girl saved today too, and next week we will baptise several, yes what a mighty God we serve, in times that the rest of the world is uncertain we can stand fast, and hold on to Christ, he will keep us and he is still on the Throne. Nothing happens to a Christian that God does not know about or allows to happen. Turn to him, and I pray that you will stand like a tree planted in the water, and not be moved. I'm sending a prayer you way, I ask the father to touch you today, though were far apart, your still in my heart, so I'm sending a prayer your way. Happy Lord's Day, I was glad when they said unto me let us go into the house of the lord... God bless you and keep you, see you tomorrow, with more of Barbara's Babbling.

STRAWBERRY BUNDT CAKE
Things you will need:
Bundt baking pan Usual kitchen utensils Small hand, or table-top mixer Wood skewer Boxed strawberry Cake, or Your favorite yellow cake recipe Quart of fresh, or whole frozen strawberries Butter Vanilla Check your cake recipes for other ingredients
1. Butter and flour the inside of a non-stick bundt cake pan. First spread the butter fairly thickly over the entire inside. Next, sprinkle flour onto the butter. Turn the pan upside down and tap to remove excess flour. Yes, you can use spray oil - be sure to use enough. 2. Center your oven's racks so that your pan will be centered top-to-bottom. Preheat the oven to your recipe's temperature. 3. Prepare either your favorite cake recipe
I usually add an egg, double the vanilla, or if it doesn't call for vanilla, I add a scant tablespoon of vanilla. I also substitute microwave softened butter for the oil. (Note that if you cut down the oil, the cake may be dry.) Prepare a cup of fresh strawberry pieces (1/2 inch chunks). Prepare batter and gently add fruit last. Evenly pour batter with fruit into bunt pan. Check to see if your oven's heat is up to temperature, place the pan in the center of the oven and set your timer. See the tip below on checking to see if the cake is done.
4. Cut the remainder of the strawberries into 1/8 to 1/4 slices. If you are using frozen strawberries, slice them before they are completely thawed. Cover and refrigerate the sliced strawberries. 5. Remove the done cake from the oven. Let cool on a rack for 5 to 10 minutes. Center a cake plate on top of the cake, and with hot mittens, flip the cake over. Tap and shake the upside down cake until the cake drops. If it doesn't drop, run a knife around the sides, pray, and try again. Set aside until the cake is completely cool. White Icing: Place in a mixing bowl, 1 stick of soft butter, one box of confectioners sugar, and one tablespoon of vanilla. Mix slowly with an electric hand, or table-top mixer, adding a slight teaspoon of milk one at a time until you produce a thick, but spreadable, icing. Be careful not to add too much milk at a time, mix well so that the milk takes effect before adding more. Mix on medium until there are no lumps. (If there was any strawberry juice left over, you could substitute it for the milk. Do not use the melted water from frozen berries. With a small spatula, spread the icing on the cake starting with the center. Distribute the sliced strawberries evenly on top of the cake. Or you can make a drizzle icing and add the juice from strawberries to color too. WALA!
Sit back and enjoy your work.

Spiritual Hygiene
"But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come."
(1 Timothy 4:7-8) We are bombarded these days with diet plans, exercise programs, health foods, beauty aids, etc.--all aimed at improving our lives or lifestyles. These may profit a "little," and should not be ignored, but we must never allow a preoccupation with physical things to negate our true priorities. Spiritual hygiene is much more important than physical hygiene. As infants, we should "desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby"
(1 Peter 2:2). For adults, "strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age" (Hebrews 5:14)--those who are no longer "unskillful in the word of righteousness" (v. 13). We are to be "nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine"
(1 Timothy 4:6), and admonished to profess "sound literally 'healthy' doctrine" (Titus 1:9; 2:1) and healthy "faith" (1:13; 2:2), as well as healthy "charity" and "patience" (2:2), and use healthy "speech" (2:8). Exercise must not be ignored, but it should be "exercise . . . unto godliness"
(1 Timothy 4:7), enabling us to "discern both good and evil" (Hebrews 5:14). It may take the form of chastisement, which "yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness"(12:11). And, of course, cleanliness is important. "Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word" (Psalm 119:9). Christ gave Himself "that he might sanctify and cleanse the church with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish" (Ephesians 5:26-27). JDM
I love these devotions and this one is so true for todays living, so many run on old wives tales, and what grandma said, instead of looking to the word of God and see what he has to say, The Days of Praise are them most vivid and accurate daily devotionals I have ever see, always KJV scripture too, if you want to order some for your church or to come in your email daily just go sign up.
